Fried, Erich

(1921-88)
   Austrian writer. In 1938 his parents were arrested and he fled the Nazis, settling in England. After the war he worked on periodicals and then was a political commentator for the BBC. From 1946 he worked on a novel Ein Soldat und ein Madchen which was published in 1960. His poetry includes: Poems of Warning, 100 Poems Without a Country, Fear and Consolation: Stories and Poems About Jews and Nazis.
